Star Trek Costume World Record!

Susan and I participated in a successful effort to break the Guiness Book of World Records target of 508 Star Trek costumes in one room. This was so much fun! Susan and I wore pretty standard "off the rack" costumes, but some others came with really elaborate home-made creations.
Susan and I in our mail-order uniforms.Susan had to have hers shortened and tightened, or it would have looked like a nightgown. Mine fit okay, but tended to ride up and show my potbelly in a manner unfitting for a Star Fleet officer.

Susan in her original series uniform. And me, in my Next Generation Commander's uniform. This is Susan, shortly after the announcement that we had broken the record. Woo Hoo! Andorian lady - unfortunately I cut off her horns.

After the record was won, there was a lot of picture taking. The Trill in the red Federation bikini seemed a particularly popular photo subject. I wonder why? An expert vetted everyone to ensure all wore legitimate Star Trek costumes. Federation Macho Men.

People of all ages dressed as charcters from all the Trek series. These girls' parents may not have been born when the original versions of these uniforms were first worn. People came from all over the world - compared to the differences between Star Trek species, our differences here on earth seem trivial. Girl dressed as a character from Star Trek II. She was a very popular photo subject as well! Here she poses with someone dressed as Data, complete with an android head from a Next Generation episode.

A Guynan character, and the Romulan lady. This Romulan lady had one of the highest quality uniforms. Three Romulans together. I don't know what character the Spiked Head guy represented.

A Kai - a religious leader from Bajor in Deep Space Nine. A very well done Vulcan - as in the most recent Star Trek movie. Vulcan ladies - almost excluded because their costumes were not represented in any movie or TV show. Mama Vulcan and her little Federation Vulcan baby.

Everyone loved the Vulcan baby - already a Guiness World Record holder! A Klingon - fierce warrior species. Another Klingon. This guy was a lot of fun, yelling at all of us for standing in line for everything all the time.

I think his was the most realistic costume - Hollywood Grade. ... Next time, I want to be a Klingon! They do whatever they want! People had a great time - more fun at this than at the party. Not sure the reputation of Star Trek fans being sexless nerds is entirely based in fact.
